Herisau The capital of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, in Eastern Switzerland. The town center, the church of 1580, many houses and the government building are all listed as Swiss heritage sites of national significance. Säntis At 2,502 m above sea level, it's the tallest mountain of Northeastern Switzerland.
