On the road to Grande-Dixence, this tiny hamlet located at an altitude of 1,608 metres offers a first glimpse of the dam, 3.5 kilometres away as the crow flies. Accessible in all seasons, in winter it becomes a little paradise for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

The road continues for 6 km to the foot of the dam, at an altitude of over 2,000 m, but from November to May, it ends here and only maintenance and surveillance teams have access to the dam, exclusively by helicopter.

The hamlet consists of just a few chalets scattered along both banks of the Dixence, the torrent that rises from the Cheilon glacier above the dam. It would go completely unnoticed were it not for its small hotel-restaurant and campsite.
