Bicycles are available free of charge from May to October, allowing you to explore the city and its surroundings on two wheels. There are numerous hiking trails along the lake, on the Zugerberg and in the gently rolling countryside of the region. A popular mountain bike route leads to Lake Ägeri via the Zugerberg and back to Zug via Lorzentobel. On hot summer days, the wild and romantic Lorzentobel Gorge offers a shady hiking route to the Hell Caves with their many stalactites and stalagmites. Lake Zug is also a must: a cruise or a romantic stroll along the shores at sunset will leave you with unforgettable memories. Also worth a visit is the former Cistercian abbey of Kappel, an impressive Gothic abbey from the 13th and 14th centuries, with beautiful choir stalls and stained glass windows.
